Today my Mom emailed me to let me know that today is the 2-year anniversary of my departure from Pennsylvania for my cross-country move to California. I suppose this is the kind of occasion that calls for reflection of the past two years. So what have I learned or accomplished?
- I've definitely gained independence by coping with financial limitations.
- I've learned that I can be alone in the world and survive on my own self love and confidence during traumatic stages in my life.
- I have a strong ability to gain social and professional contacts.
- I can be myself in my truest form and people will accept and love me, regardless of my flaws.
- I'm indeed a grown-up, whether I feel like one or not.
- My life is what I make of it.
- I'm perfectly happy when not in a relationship. Sometimes I'm happiest without a significant other.
- Life is full of amazing opportunities and experiences, which I enjoy pursuing.
- I really am funny, not just on the East Coast.
- I've learned how to deal with different and sometimes difficult personalities and how to gain the most from them.
I think I'll stop at 10, since I'm kind of scaring myself with this serious list of reflecton. When I left PA, my friends had a tarot card reader visit a small party we had for my farewell. She said I'd be in California for 5 years. I have three more wonderful years to go and I plan on enjoying every minute of it!
